Accuracy and ethics: using AI responsibly in engineers

The general rules are at the bottom of every page. Here is what they mean specifically for engineers.

Public safety first

Never rely on bot output for structural, electrical or life-safety decisions without independent verification.

Confidential designs

Do not upload client drawings to public tools without permission.

Not engineering advice

Education only.

A one-minute check before you use any bot output

  1. Did I put any personal or confidential data into a tool that isn't approved for it?
  2. Have I checked every fact, number, citation and quote against the original?
  3. Would I be comfortable explaining to my client, patient, employer or regulator how I used AI here?
  4. Am I, the responsible professional, signing off on this myself?

Accuracy and ethics, every time
