Use-case playbooks

Read a long report

  1. Upload the file.
  2. Ask for a summary with page numbers.
  3. Check two page references.

Research brief

  1. Ask for 5 dated sources.
  2. Open each and confirm one quote.
  3. Ask for a one-page brief using only those sources.

Goal Mode run (Pro+)

  1. Describe the goal and the finish line.
  2. Approve the plan.
  3. Review the result before you use it.

Troubleshooting

I ran out of credits.

Paid credits come from a shared monthly pool with no rollover. Wait for the reset, or move up a plan if you hit the limit every month.

Kimi Code stopped me.

Kimi Code has a rolling 5-hour limit. Wait for the window to roll forward.

The answer cites a page that doesn't say that.

Treat the claim as unverified. Ask it to quote the exact sentence from that page, or say it isn't there. Then open the page yourself.

It forgot my earlier instructions.

Long sessions push early text out of context. Put standing instructions where Kimi keeps them (Keep one chat per document or project, and put a short brief at the top so a fresh chat can pick up the thread.) and start fresh.

It agrees with everything I say.

Ask it to argue the other side and list the strongest evidence against your view, with sources.

Cost control

Paid plans draw from one shared monthly credit pool that does not roll over. Kimi Code has a rolling 5-hour limit (Kimi membership pricing page).

Prompt library: bad vs good

Bad: help me

Good: Here is a 30-page report. Give me a one-paragraph summary, then the 5 numbers that matter most with the page each comes from. Finish with 3 questions I should ask the author.

Why: situation, task, format and limits.

Bad: research this

Good: Find the 5 most relevant official sources from the last 12 months on [topic]. For each: title, date, link, and one sentence it actually says.

Why: asks for dated, quotable, checkable sources.

Bad: make it better

Good: Rewrite this for a busy customer: max 100 words, one ask, no jargon. Then list what you cut.

Why: a reader, a length and an audit of changes.

Bad: should I do X?

Good: List the 3 strongest reasons for and against X for someone in [situation]. Mark which reasons depend on facts I should check.

Why: balanced, and separates facts from judgement.
