Prompt library

Answer in under 120 words, then list what you assumed.
You are my weekly newsletter editor. Ask me for this week’s 3 facts, then write 200 words in a friendly tone.
Compare these two answers from different models. Which is more accurate, and what would you check?

Use-case playbooks

Model taste test

  1. Pick one real question.
  2. Ask it in 2–3 models.
  3. Keep the model that won, for that kind of job.

Make your own bot

  1. Write instructions for one weekly job.
  2. Pick a base model.
  3. Test on 5 real inputs.

Points budget

  1. Note your balance on Monday.
  2. Use smaller models for drafts.
  3. Check the balance on Friday.

Troubleshooting

I ran out of points.

Free points refresh daily; subscription points monthly. You can buy add-on points ($30 per 1M, valid one year).

Which subscription tier do I need?

Start at the lowest tier and watch your points for two weeks. Official help confirms plans start at $4.99/month.

The answer cites a page that doesn't say that.

Treat the claim as unverified. Ask it to quote the exact sentence from that page, or say it isn't there. Then open the page yourself.

It forgot my earlier instructions.

Long sessions push early text out of context. Put standing instructions where Poe keeps them (Pin the 3–4 bots you use most, and keep one chat per task so each model’s context stays clean.) and start fresh.

It agrees with everything I say.

Ask it to argue the other side and list the strongest evidence against your view, with sources.

Cost control

Free users get daily points. Subscriptions start at $4.99 a month and are available monthly or yearly. Monthly points don’t roll over. Add-on points cost $30 per 1 million and last one year (Poe Help Center).

Third-party guides list higher tiers ($19.99, $49.99, $99.99 and $249.99 a month). We could not confirm that full tier list on an official Poe page on Oct 30, 2026; check the in-app subscribe screen.

Free users get daily points; subscribers get a monthly allowance that does not roll over. Bigger models cost more points per message (Poe Help Center).

Prompt library: bad vs good

Bad: help me

Good: Explain the difference between a Roth IRA and a traditional IRA to a 25-year-old in under 150 words. End with one question I should ask a financial adviser.

Why: situation, task, format and limits.

Bad: research this

Good: Find the 5 most relevant official sources from the last 12 months on [topic]. For each: title, date, link, and one sentence it actually says.

Why: asks for dated, quotable, checkable sources.

Bad: make it better

Good: Rewrite this for a busy customer: max 100 words, one ask, no jargon. Then list what you cut.

Why: a reader, a length and an audit of changes.

Bad: should I do X?

Good: List the 3 strongest reasons for and against X for someone in [situation]. Mark which reasons depend on facts I should check.

Why: balanced, and separates facts from judgement.

When to use it vs other bots

Use Poe forConsider another bot when
  • Comparing models before you pay for one directly
  • Using a niche model for a single job
  • Saving instructions as your own bot
  • Light daily use on free points
  • Long-context work on supported models (subscribers)
  • Heavy daily use of the biggest models on a low tier
  • Sharing personal data with user-made bots
  • Treating two models agreeing as proof
  • Jobs that need one vendor’s full app features
