Troubleshooting

Is there a usage limit?

We couldn’t find a published limit for the free chat on qwen.ai (Oct 30, 2026). If you are slowed down, wait, or start a fresh chat with a short summary.

Is it called Qwen Chat or Qwen Studio?

qwen.ai says Qwen Chat. Some third-party sites say Qwen Studio; we could not confirm that rename officially.

The answer cites a page that doesn't say that.

Treat the claim as unverified. Ask it to quote the exact sentence from that page, or say it isn't there. Then open the page yourself.

It forgot my earlier instructions.

Long sessions push early text out of context. Put standing instructions where Qwen keeps them (Use one chat per project and give it a clear title; paste a short brief at the top of each new chat.) and start fresh.

It agrees with everything I say.

Ask it to argue the other side and list the strongest evidence against your view, with sources.

Cost control

Qwen Chat is free to use (qwen.ai). There is no paid consumer plan on the official page we checked.

The API is paid per token on Alibaba Cloud Model Studio. Example from the official price list: qwen3.8-max costs $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens. Prices differ by model and region, so read the table for the model you pick.

Qwen does not publish a hard daily limit for the free chat on the page we checked. API usage is billed per token and capped by your Model Studio account settings.

Prompt library: bad vs good

Bad: help me

Good: I run a small online shop. Write a 90-word reply to a customer whose parcel is late. Friendly, one apology, one clear next step. Then give the same reply in Spanish and in Simplified Chinese. List any phrase you were unsure how to translate.

Why: situation, task, format and limits.

Bad: research this

Good: Find the 5 most relevant official sources from the last 12 months on [topic]. For each: title, date, link, and one sentence it actually says.

Why: asks for dated, quotable, checkable sources.

Bad: make it better

Good: Rewrite this for a busy customer: max 100 words, one ask, no jargon. Then list what you cut.

Why: a reader, a length and an audit of changes.

Bad: should I do X?

Good: List the 3 strongest reasons for and against X for someone in [situation]. Mark which reasons depend on facts I should check.

Why: balanced, and separates facts from judgement.

When to use it vs other bots

Use Qwen forConsider another bot when
  • Writing and translating between many languages
  • Explaining or drafting code for a small project
  • Summarizing long articles you paste in
  • Brainstorming without paying for a plan
  • Developers testing cheap, capable models over an API
  • Legal or medical translations nobody fluent will check
  • Live facts, unless you open the sources yourself
  • Confidential company data on a personal account
  • Jobs that need a guaranteed usage limit in writing
